Santa Victor will welcome students to the program.
Santa Idol:
9:15
Each student will give an
opening performance of three minutes duration. These performances will be
critiqued during our version of Santa Idol. The panel will consist of
film and stage actors doing their interpretation of Simon Cowell, Paula
Abdul, and Randy Jackson. Panelists are instructors on the program. This has proven to be great fun as well as
very enlightening.

Costuming:
11:00 am
All students on an
individual basis will be front and center of the class during this
session. Costumes will be critiqued and suggestions given to improve
their image. A selection of props and accessories will be on hand so
students can upgrade their look in preparation for the final exam.
Maintenance of outfits will be discussed. Sources of costumes, accessories, etc. will be provided.

Voice & Stage Presence: 2:00 - 4:00
The session is led by Alan Monk, world renowned opera singer, who has sung with the Metropolitan Opera in New York
for 10 years. He has performed on stage with Pavarotti, Maria Callas, and
Beverley Sills to name a few. Learn the techniques that made Pavarotti the star
he was, the Gesture Trail, and the secret of the long vowel. Find your
Santa voice, and turn your Santa into a show stopper.

Character
development: 4:15 pm
Victor Nevada will lead
through lecture, discussion, and exercises; an examination of Santa's
character. You'll learn the process of finding the Santa within you. A
prior homework assignment will be turned in on the 8th of October.

Script Writing: 9:00 - 10:30 am
Mike Shepherd leads this
session. He is one of Calgary's
finest actors and has performed on stage, in film, and is one of the
voices in many of the cartoons you see on TV. He recently shot a pilot
for distribution in the American and Canadian markets. In his role as
Calgary's top mall Santa, he sees well over 20,000 children every
Christmas season. He is well - qualified to lead this session as he has
written many different types of shows for various corporate clients.
A continuation of the
previous session in that students will be shown how to script their
Santa performances to stay on character, provide movement essential to
their character, and to sound like their character. Learn to customize
the script for different clients. This session ensures maximum
satisfaction for Santa's and for their audiences. You won't be "winging" it after
this session.

Lecture and exercises
designed to help Santa's respond to unforeseen occurrences while
performing. You won't be at a loss for words or actions again after this
session.
Lunch Break
Movement: 1:30

Lecture and exercises. How
you come across in terms of movement is integral to your character. This
session is designed to take your Santa character and personify him through
movement. The instructor, Michelle Malmberg, has worked with Sam Elliott, Nastassja Kinski,
Jennifer Garner, Keri Russell, Skeet Ulrich,
amongst others, and just finished working on the film, The Assassination of Jessie
James, starring Brad Pitt, where she was responsible for the
choreography.

Calgary's leading make - up
artist, Bryon Callaghan, will give an introductory session to prepare students for the
hands - on portion the next day. He has done the make - up for Dr. Phil and
William Shatner (Capt. Kirk) to name a few of the Hollywood actors he has worked on.

Hair Care: 10:15

Emmy Award nominee, Don Olson, leads this
segment. Learn from someone who's at the top of the entertainment
industry in their field. Advice on the selection, cleaning, and maintenance of wigs and beards,
plus natural hair. Use of gels, shampoos, waxes, etc. The ins - and - outs
of bleaching.

Noon Break
Being a Mall
Santa: 1:15 - 3:15 pm
Mike Shepherd, the Santa
at Canada's 2nd largest mall is the session instructor. The class is
lecture format with class discussion of the nuts and bolts of a mall
operation in terms of Santa, the photo company, mall manager, and the
audience. Victor Nevada will
cover contracts and negotiation as they pertain to a mall
Santa's employment.

6:15 pm
A three hour session
designed to teach Santa's the ins - and - outs of interviews, how to write a
media release, how to make a good impression, etc. regardless of the
medium. A TV reporter, from Canada's national TV network,
who regularly instructs in journalism schools, will be the session
instructor. You'll be surprised at the ways reporters get their story.
Learn how to take control of the interview, ensure good photos for that
image you want the public to see. Find out how to become the go to Santa
in terms of things Santa and Christmas in your trading area.
